September 8: God’s Work. Our Hands
We are planning a joint event with English Lutheran, Bateman on Sunday, Sept. 8 at Irvine Park. Our time together will begin with worship at 8:30 a.m. at the Irvine Park Bandshell, followed by fellowship and projects up the hill in the enclosed Pavilion next to the playground. There will be projects to engage all ages and all levels of mobility. Children are welcome to come and go between projects and the playground where teenagers will supervise the young ones.
In preparation for God’s Work. Our Hands. Sunday on Sept. 8, please join in gathering. . . .
Imagine the life of a soldier where the routine can be monotonous, and life in the desert is very tan. . . the sand, the tents, the concrete, the uniforms, etc. To lift the spirits of the soldiers serving in the desert, an ELCA Chaplain requests that we send colorful postcards with a “Dear Soldier” message on the back. Postcards may come from vacations, art museums, local sites, or wherever you find some colorful postcards.
You can help with this project by:
Bringing colorful postcards to God’s Work. Our Hands. Or you may drop off the postcards at the church office in advance (put them in Pastor Karen’s mail slot).
Spending some time on Sept. 8 adding uplifting messages and/or pictures on the postcards. An assortment of pens and colored pencils will be provided.
Other projects on Sept. 8 will include: assembling Birthday Bags, making tie-blankets, a hymn sing with residents at Chippewa Manor, and more.
