C: And also with you.

L: In the beginning was the Word,

C: and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

L: In the Word was life,

C: and the life was the light of all people.

L: The Word became flesh and lived among us,

C:    and we have seen his glory, full of grace and truth.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

L: Let us pray together . . .

C: Thanks be to You, Lord Jesus Christ, most merciful redeemer, for the countless blessings and benefits you give. May we know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day praising you, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

GATHERING SONG

“I Rejoiced” – By:Trevor Thomson

Chorus:

I rejoiced when I heard them say: let us go to the house of the Lord.

I rejoiced when I heard them say: let us go to the house of the Lord.

I rejoiced when they said to me: “Let us go to the house of the Lord today.”

And now we stand within your gates; my heart is glad and I will sing with joy.     Chorus

Strongly built is Jerusalem, Strongly built with unity and love.

And it is there that the tribes go up, go up to the mountain of our God.     Chorus

For the love of friends and family, may the peace of God be with you always.

For the love of God’s house, I will pray for you, will pray for your good.     Chorus

HOLY GOSPEL – John 1:43-51

David: The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Karen: Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.”

David: Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”

Karen: Philip said to him, “Come and see.” When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

David: Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?”

Karen: Jesus answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

David: Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

Karen: Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

L: The gospel of the Lord.            C: Praise to you, O Christ.

SERMON – Pr. Karen Behling

SONG OF THE DAY

“In My Life, Lord, Be Glorified”

In my life, Lord, be glorified, be glorified. In my life, Lord, be glorified today.

L: God has given us the ministry of reconciliation. Therefore, let us be reconciled to God and to one another.  Gracious God:

C: Have mercy on us. In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. Uphold us by your Spirit so that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

L: May the almighty and merciful God grant us forgiveness of all our sins +.

C: Amen

PEACE

L: Sisters and brothers, rejoice. Let us mend our ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, and may the peace of Christ be with you always.
