Education is an important ministry at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, WI and therefore we provide Christian learning programs for preschool-aged children and those in elementary, middle school, and high school grades on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Our Saviour’s also offers adult education classes on Sunday mornings between worship services and a Milestone Ministry program that recognizes the important faith stepping stones from birth to 100.

SUNDAY MORNINGS
Middle and high school youth and adults are welcome to join us in the Lounge/Nursery as we watch movies and discuss our faith from 9:15am-10:05am on Sundays. You do not need to have been present at the beginning of the movie or have seen the movies before to join us.
Film & Faith was birthed from a 3-fold idea:
God tells the Story of God and God’s People through the scriptures
Our culture tells it’s Story through film
What if we compared and contrasted the Two Stories and see how they line up and/or how they are in conflict?
The bottom line when it comes to Film & Faith is that we really believe that God truly is in all things (Ephesians 4:6). Because of this, God does not abandon things but restores them (Colossians 1:20), even an altar in the middle of ancient Athens (Acts 17:23).
Because we always look at life through some kind of filter, we invite students and adults to practice what it means to see the world through the Kingdom of God filter. Whether its film or music or something else, once you strip away the Hollywood and you start to have conversations about it, you’re going to end up looking into what God is doing in the world and how we can direct our lives towards what God is doing.
And the people who come to Film and Faith have had conversations about love, death, funerals, living with grief, overcoming obstacles, and have talked about concrete examples in their lives where God was present. With more practice, they will look through that Kingdom filter and see God in stories, songs, and the world around them on a regular basis.

MILESTONE MINISTRY
Some milestones we celebrate are sacraments that we at our Saviour’s honor as important and fundamental to our worship service.
These include baptism, first communion, and affirmation of baptism (aka confirmation). you can find more information about these wonderful programs here.
WHAT IS MILESTONE MINISTRY?
Milestones Ministry provides a faith milestone as a marker along life’s journey that says, “This is something important, and God is here, too.” It is a faith formation practice for both home and congregation that helps all generations recognize God’s presence in everyday life.
We recognize milestones as an important aspect of ministry because our Lutheran faith tells us that “Home is Church”. When we participate in milestones, we are partnering with the families and households to walk with them, outreach into the larger community, and allows people to experience faith in their daily lives a little bit deeper. All of this we do to fulfill the baptismal promises that the church made.
“SPLASH!” MINISTRY
When you are talking about baptism, at Our Saviour’s we partner the newly baptized with a Splash! Sponsor. This person is someone who will be present at the baptism, will follow up with you for 3 years after baptism, and be another connection point with the congregation.
You can choose your own sponsor or we can find someone for you. Their role is to send notes, send cards, check in with the family, and to be an advocate for the newly baptized within the church.
For more information on Baptism, see Baptism, Communion, & Affirmation of Baptism
FIRST BIBLES
At Our Saviour’s, we want to support parents in fulfilling a baptismal promise (to place in their hands the holy scriptures).
When a youth enters our education program, from Pre-Elementary to 5th grade, they will receive the Whirl! Storybook Bible. We ask that parents talk to the church office to receive that Bible in the fall, or when they enter if after Bibles have been given out.
At 3rd grade, we no longer give out a Bible. However, if parents would like a full Bible at reading level, we have the Adventure Bible to purchase at a discounted price. These are available year-round from the church office for $15.
When youth enter our education program, from 6th to 12th grade, they will receive the NRSV Student Bible. Again, we ask that parents talk to the church office to receive that Bible in the fall, or when they enter if after Bibles have been given out.
FRIENDS IN FAITH
For high school youth with the desire to publicly affirm their baptism, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church offers a wonderful program with a strong history. We call this program Friends in Faith.
Friends in Faith is a 9-month long mentoring ministry. Each student is paired with an authentic and affirming adult with whom they meet twice a month. With your Friend in Faith, participants prepare for Affirmation of Baptism by:
Participating in monthly large group meetings on the 2nd Sunday of each month, September through May.
working on monthly projects, which will be discussed in monthly large group meetings.
Preparing a “faith project” to share at a banquet in October of the following year.
Participating in our annual Summer Rock Climbing trip at Devil’s Lake State Park.
Our church is always excited for you to participate in this final step to prepare for your Affirmation of Baptism.
GRADUATION
Find out all the things we at Our Saviour’s do to celebrate and honor a graduation milestone here.
GRADUATION MILESTONE
Graduate Recognition
Graduation is a very important milestone. We send out invitations and information in February/March to save the dates in May.
The current class of juniors and their families help to put on a banquet for the graduates and their families. This banquet is a chance to as a family have a nice dinner, laugh, reminisce, and celebrate with the graduate.
Towards the middle of May, there is a baccalaureate worship service during 10:15 AM worship. The congregation gets the opportunity to wish the graduates well, celebrate with them, pray for them, and send them off on the next chapter with a warm gift.
Contact Pastor Karen, or the church office for more information on this year’s festivities!
