PRELUDE – OSLC Praise Team
“Alive In Us” – By: Jason Ingram & Reuben Morgan
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS
L: Blessed be the holy Trinity,☩ one God, the God of manna, the God of miracles, the God of mercy.
L: Drawn to Christ and seeking God’s abundance, let us confess our sin.
L: God, our provider,
C: help us. It is hard to believe there is enough to share. We question your ways when they differ from the ways of the world in which we live. We turn to our own understanding rather than trusting in you. We take offense at your teachings and your ways. Turn us again to you. Where else can we turn? Share with us the words of eternal life and feed us for life in the world. Amen.
L: Beloved people of God: in Jesus, the manna from heaven, you are fed and nourished. By Jesus, the worker of miracles, there is always more than enough. Through Jesus, ☩ the bread of life, you are shown God’s mercy: you are forgiven and loved into abundant life.
“Firm Foundation” – By: Nancy Gordon & Jamie Harvill
Chorus:Jesus, you’re my firm foundation, I know I can stand secure.
Jesus, You’re my firm foundation, I put my hope in Your holy Word,
I put my hope in Your holy Word.
I have a living hope, (I have a living hope,) I have a future; (I have a future;)
God has a plan for me (God has a plan for me) of this I’m sure, of this I’m sure!
Your Word is faithful (Your Word is faithful,) mighty with power; (mighty with power;)
God will deliver me (God will deliver me)
this I’m sure, of this I’m sure! Chorus
L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C: And also with you.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
L: All-powerful God,
C: in Jesus Christ you turned death into life and defeat into victory. Increase our faith and trust in him, that we may triumph over all evil in the strength of the same Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
HOLY GOSPEL – Mark 3:20-35
[Jesus went home;] 20and the crowd came together again, so that [Jesus and the disciples] could not even eat. 21When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.” 22And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.” 23And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. 27But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered.
28“Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—30for they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
31Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. 32A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you.” 33And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”
SERMON – Pr. Karen Behling
SONG OF THE DAY
“A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”
A mighty fortress is our God, a sword and shield victorious;
he breaks the cruel oppressor’s rod and wins salvation glorious.
The old satanic foe has sworn to work us woe!
With craft and dreadful might he arms himself to fight.
On earth he has no equal.
No strength of ours can match his might! We would be lost, rejected.
But now a champion comes to fight, whom God himself elected.
You ask who this may be? The Lord of hosts is he!
Christ Jesus, mighty Lord, God’s only Son, adored.
He holds the field victorious.
Though hordes of devils fill the land all threat’ning to devour us,
we tremble not, unmoved we stand; they cannot overpow’r us.
Let this world’s tyrant rage; in battle we’ll engage!
His might is doomed to fail; God’s judgment must prevail!
One little word subdues him.
God’s Word forever shall abide, no thanks to foes, who fear it;
for God himself fights by our side with weapons of the Spirit.
Were they to take our house, goods, honor, child, or spouse,
though life be wrenched away, they cannot win the day.
The kingdom’s ours forever!
“Majesty” – By: Jack Heyford
Majesty, worship his majesty.
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise.
Majesty, kingdom authority
flow from his throne unto his own; his anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King
Majesty, worship his majesty;
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.
L: Go in peace. You are the body of Christ.
C: Thanks be to God.
