PRELUDE – OSLC Praise Team
“Protector Of My Soul” – By: Anne Barbour
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS
L: Blessed be the holy Trinity,☩ one God, the God of manna, the God of miracles, the God of mercy.
L: Drawn to Christ and seeking God’s abundance, let us confess our sin.
God, our provider,
C: help us. It is hard to believe there is enough to share. We question your ways when they differ from the ways of the world in which we live. We turn to our own understanding rather than trusting in you. We take offense at your teachings and your ways. Turn us again to you. Where else can we turn? Share with us the words of eternal life and feed us for life in the world. Amen.
L: Beloved people of God: in Jesus, the manna from heaven, you are fed and nourished. By Jesus, the worker of miracles, there is always more than enough. Through Jesus, ☩ the bread of life, you are shown God’s mercy: you are forgiven and loved into abundant life.
“Rise Up And Sing” – By: Ray Makeever
Rise up and sing! Bring in the morning;
dawn is a borning, day has begun.
Raise the glad sound! Around us are breaking
skies that are waking light the sun.
Rise up, good friends! Now is the hour;
sunlight will shower hope for the day.
Rise from your sleep, and keep your dreams with you.
Let the light kiss you soft on your way.
Rise with the world, curled up a waiting
end to the hating, day full of grace.
Rise up in song! The long night is ending;
now God is sending peace to this place.
Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
All: And also with you.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
L: Gracious God, your blessed Son came down from heaven to be the true bread that gives life to the world. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him, and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
READING – Ephesians 4:25–5:2
25So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another. 26Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27and do not make room for the devil. 28Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy. 29Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption. 31Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, 32and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. 5:1Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, 2and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
SERMON – PR. Karen Behling
SONG OF THE DAY – “Be Thou My Vision”
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art:
Thou my best thought both by day and by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light
Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord
Thou my soul’s shelter, and thou my high tow’r,
raise though me heav’n-ward, O Pow’r of my pow’r.
Light of my soul, after victory won,
may I reach heaven’s joys, O heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever be fall,
still be my vision, O Ruler of all.
“Grace Alone” – By:Scott Westley Brown & Jeff Nelson
Ev’ry promise we can make, ev’ry prayer and step of faith,
Ev’ry difference we will make is only by His grace.
Ev’ry mountain we will climb, ev’ry ray of hope we shine,
Ev’ry blessing left behind is only by His grace.
Chorus: Grace alone which God supplies, strength unknown He will provide.
Christ in us, our corner stone, we will go forth in grace alone.
Ev’ry soul we long to reach, ev’ry heart we hope to teach,
Ev’ry where we share His peace is only by His grace.
Ev’ry loving word we say, ev’ry tear we wipe away,
Ev’ry sorrow turned to praise is only by His grace. Chorus
L: Go in peace. You are the body of Christ.
C: Thanks be to God.
