PRELUDE – OSLC Praise Team

“I Will Praise Him Still” – By: Fernando Ortega

PSALM 48:1-11

1Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,

in the city of our God, on the Lord’s holy mountain.

2Beautiful and lofty, the joy of all the earth, is Mount Zion,

the summit of the north and city of the great king.

3God is in the citadels of Jerusalem;

revealed to be the sure refuge of the city.

4Behold, the kings assembled

and marched forward together.

5As they looked, they were astounded;

dismayed, they fled in terror.

6Trembling seized them there;

they writhed like a woman in childbirth;

7with an east wind you shattered them

like the ships of Tarshish.

8As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God—

may God establish it forever!

9In the midst of your temple, O God,

we meditate on your steadfast love.

10Your praise, like your name, O God, reaches to the ends of the earth;

your right hand is full of righteousness.

11Let Mount Zion be glad and the towns of Judah rejoice,

because of your judgments.

“Let All Things Now Living”

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving

to God the creator triumphantly raise, who fashioned and made us,

protected and stayed us, who still guides us on to the end of our days.

God’s banners are o’er us, God’s light goes before us,

a pillar of fire shining forth in the night, till shadows have vanished

and darkness is banished, as forward we travel from light into light.

God rules all the forces: the stars in their courses

and sun in its orbit obediently shine; the hills and the mountains,

the rivers and fountains, the deeps of the ocean proclaim God divine.

We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing;

with glad adoration a song let us raise till all things now living

unite in thanksgiving: “To God in the highest, hosanna and praise!”

L:       The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C:       And also with you.

L: Creator God, who lifted up the mountains and formed the dry land; whose hands shaped us out of the dust of the earth; who formed the soils and made this earth a place of beauty and abundance: We give you thanks for the gift of the land. Create in us such a sense of wonder and delight in this and all your gifts that we receive them with gratitude, care for them with love, and generously share them with all your creatures, to the honor and glory of your holy name.

C:    Amen.

READING    Isaiah 65:17-25

17For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth;

the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind.

18But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating;

for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy,

and its people as a delight.

19I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and delight in my people;

no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it, or the cry of distress.

20No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days,

or an old person who does not live out a lifetime;

for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth,

and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed.

21They shall build houses and inhabit them;

they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

22They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat;

for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,

and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23They shall not labor in vain, or bear children for calamity;

for they shall be offspring blessed by the LORD —

and their descendants as well.

24Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear.

25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox;

but the serpent — its food shall be dust!

They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the LORD.

Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God.

SERMON – Pr. Karen Behling

“This Is My Father’s World”

This is my Father’s world, and to my list’ning ears

all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.

This is my Father’s world; I rest me in the thought

of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; his hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world; the birds their carols raise;

the morning light, the lily white, declare their maker’s praise.

This is my Father’s world; he shines in all that’s fair.

In the rustling grass I hear him pass; he speaks to me ev’rywhere.

This is my Father’s world; oh, let me not forget

that, though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.

This is my Father’s world; why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is king, let heaven ring; God reigns, let earth be glad!

“Shout To The Lord” – By: Darlene Zschech

My Jesus, my Savior, Lord, there is none like you.

All of my days I want to praise the wonders of your mighty love.

My comfort, my shelter; tower of refuge and strength;

Let ev’ry breath, all that I am never cease to worship you.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth; let us sing

power and majesty, praise to the King;

Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name.

I sing for joy at the work of your hands;

forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand.

Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.  Repeat all

P:       Go in peace. Care for God’s creation.

C:       Thanks be to God.
